The Passage

What We Lost

The ancient traditions that once told a child you are capable of hard things, and we believe in you enough to prove it have quietly disappeared. Every culture in human history understood that boys and girls do not become men and women by accident. They are forged. Through challenge, through ordeal, through the intentional hands of the people who love them most.

We stopped doing that. And we are watching the consequences play out in real time.

So our family set out to rebuild one.

A dirt trail surrounded by lush green trees and grass, with a wooden signpost that reads 'Appalachian Trail, Cloudland Hotel Site, Elev 6150,' under a partly cloudy blue sky.

The Mission

The Passage exists to lead young people through intentional rites of passage that build character, sharpen capability, and anchor them in a purpose greater than themselves.

We believe that the oldest traditions still lead somewhere worth going.
